FAQ

Why do I need a permit?

By obtaining a Zoning or Building permit, you will protect the outcome and investment value of your construction project and be able to guard against a lawsuit or injury. The following information describes a few simple steps you can take in order to obtain a building permit and how permits can work for you. Permits are very beneficial to you and our community. By working with the Borough, you will benefit from their knowledge of building codes and zoning requirements to ensure your construction project is built right, will be safe and will last.  It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, move, improve, remove, convert, or demolish any building or structure; without a permit.  The Borough subcontracts the enforcement of the UCC to Code Administrators, Inc.  The type of permit you need depends upon the project. Some projects require both a zoning and a building permit, while other require only one or the other. You will be informed if contact with Code Administrators, Inc is necessary. Please check out their website for additional information regarding permitting requirements pertaining to the UCC. Code Administrators, Inc website.

Please note that permits are not issued on the same day they are submitted. To obtain your permit, it may take anywhere between 2 days and 2 weeks...it all depends upon the project, the required paperwork, etc. It is always best to take your time to ensure that you have all of the required information when applying for a permit. Please reference the link below that shows the fee schedule for the Borough of Wrightsville.

Where do I pay my water/sewer/refuse bill?

The convenience of paying your bill in person can be done at the M&T Bank located at 722 Hellam Street, Wrightsville, or mailed to the following lockbox address:

Wrightsville Borough Municipal Authority
P.O. Box #62626
Baltimore, MD 21264-2626

Why can't I pay with cash for my permit or large ticket item?

In the Spring of 2013, the Administrative office changed to a check or money order only policy due to several safety factors.

Does the Borough have a Facebook page?

Not at this time. Unfortunately, the Borough had to discontinue usage of a Facebook page due to the disregard for it's purpose.

What should I do if our street light is out?

1-800-DIAL-PPL (1-800-342-5775). Please call PPL to report a broken light or any electrical outage. Another option is to call the Wrightsville Street Department.
